What to do in Barcelona on New Year’s Eve.

If you are reading this article, it is because you are looking for something original and authentic to do in Barcelona on New Year’s Eve. We, at Vesping with our famous vespa rental in Barcelona, combined with our exclusive travel tips, offer you the vademecum of the traveler in Barcelona. Attention, traveler!

In the first place, we will keep you away from touristic areas and clubs or mass venues. We leave these places to conventional tourists. For the last nine years, with our Vespa rental in Barcelona and GPS made to meet your needs, we have been working to make Barcelona known as we live it.

To see Barcelona means much more than the Rambla and Paseo de Gracia. The city is made up of many neighborhoods and many other things to do. To follow the tourist guides bought in the kiosks means to limit oneself to those places that will only allow you to say: yes, I have been there.

Our goal is to make you say and think: yes, I lived it. This is our way of doing tourism. We make your trip unique and we turn it into an experience.

Leave space for your curiosity, go beyond the limits imposed by commercial proposals and let yourself be guided by those who live 360º and 7 days a week this fantastic city.

For the most awaited night of the year, there are many things to do, some free and others for a fee. They’re all, however, exclusive and original. Starting the New Year in Barcelona can be a pleasant surprise with the Barcelona vespa rental.

Let’s start where to have dinner.

We all know that finding a restaurant on a December 31st which offers a high quality service is usually a difficult task. But it’s not impossible. So follow our suggestions for better results:

Taverna El Glop in Sant Lluis Street, number 24, in the Gracia neighborhood is a safe bet. Specialist in paella (black with cuttlefish and cariofi is my favorite) and grilled meat, welcomes you to a typical and rustic place, where quality and courtesy are the order of the day. The house wine, the Priory in the “porrón” is excellent and cheap, and is very suitable to accompany your dinner. From € 25 to € 45 per person, dinner will be a success.

El Asador de Aranda, on Av. Tibidabo number 31, among the most beautiful villas in the city, will leave you speechless both for its location and for its cuisine. Personally, I go to this place when I feel like having baked lamb, cooked in old wood ovens and, in any case, I always let the staff give me their recommendations. This restaurant is a bit more expensive than the average, but the quality and the place make up for it.

In both restaurants, for New Year’s Eve, you have to book beforehand.

Obviously there are other very good places, but given the date, these two are guaranteed to be available. If you are a 100% self-sufficient tourist, remember that you should absolutely avoid restaurants on the Rambla and its surroundings. Also, you should avoid all those places adjacent to the tourist attractions. The dispassionate advice is to enter the restaurant and see what percentage of tourists is present.

In general, the more tourists there are, the worse the quality.

What to do after dinner?

In the fountains of Montjiuc, in Plaza España, New Year’s Eve starts at 9.30. There are games, music and colors before midnight and many concerts after the New Year in the midst of a crowd of more than 100,000 people. Many are the people of Barcelona who since 2013 also decide to wait for the New Year here. It is a free event that you will surely like.

If you are thinking of a night club, then celebrate 2019 in the restaurant of Cava Catalano and visit the clubs later in the evening, but the right ones.

We, at Vesping, with the vespa rental Barcelona, have some recommendations for you.

Otto Zutz on Lincoln Street 15, near Via Augusta. It has a local style and 3 different areas. The best DJs in the world mix their hip hop music here. You will find a very festive but quiet environment here, completely heterogeneous.

Sala Apolo, on Nou Street 113 at la Rambla, in the district of Poble Sec. This old theater that usually hosts concerts of the most important artists of Spain and the world (including Muchachito Bombo Infierno, Tomasito, Manu Chao, Skatalites, Max Gazze etc.) transforms after midnight into an exceptional nightclub. Your fun is guaranteed.

Luz de Gas on Calle Muntaner 246, is one of the fashionable places of the Catalan nightlife. The atmosphere is refined and exclusive, where entry and consumption are a bit more expensive than the average. It is very common to meet FC Barcelona players as well as other famous people. But if you like the VIP atmosphere and want to give yourself a luxurious night and start the new year with good wishes and good intentions, then, without a doubt, this is the right place. It is important to dress in a more elegant way and avoid tennis shoes.

If, on the other hand, you are a romantic and prefer to start the year by strengthening your intimacy with your partner (this is my favorite program), then follow this advice.

After dinner, you have to go to Bar Mirablau or Bar Mirabè, they are next to Plaza del Doctor Andreu. Here you can have good drinks in the most beautiful terraces of the city with Barcelona at your feet. The view is impressive. You can enjoy the fireworks from the highest point of Barcelona with a background of lounge music.

If you rented a vespa in Barcelona, then, before returning home or to the hotel, you should schedule a trip the Pedralbes Monastery using your GPS. It is a wonderful place. You will feel as if you were back in time. The place is not crowded and it is one of the best places to start the New Year in Barcelona.

As you can see, these tips will probably seem new to you. That is precisely the idea. If you think about it, in the lines of this article and in the rental of a vespa in Vesping Barcelona, you are almost taking the keys to the city. But do not abuse it, because Barcelona can be addictive. Take it from someone who came here 20 years ago for an Erasmus project and never left.
