The architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas built, for the Universal Exhibition of 1888, a triumphal arch in Barcelona: Arc de Triumf. It was built in reddish brickwork and we can read “Barcelona rep les nacions” on its front: Barcelona welcomes the nations. It is the entrance gate to the street which directly leads to the Parc de la Ciutadela where the Exhibition was held.
La Ribera neighbourhood, commonly called El Born is a must see for anyone walking in the street maze of Barcelona. Located between Paseo Picasso and via Laeitana, this district is filled with small shops, designer style, and restaurants. Get lost in the narrow streets and discover a city of design and fashion.
Port Olímpic is a marina located east of the port of Barcelona. It hosted the 1992 summer Olympics. Today it is a known place for fun and relaxation. Many locals and visitors, adults and yougn people go there to walk, have a drink, eat an icecream. You’ll find bars along the beach and seafood restaurants. At night, the bars turn into hip night clubs.

The Poble Espanyol is located in Montjuic and represents a small village comprising 117 full-scale replicas of typical buildings from different regions in Spain. The Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium built in 1927 on the occasion of the 1929 International Exhibition was renovated in 1989 for the 1992 Summer Olympics. It is located in Montjuïc and has a capacity of around 56 000. Apart from sports events, the stadium has also hosted concerts by many famous artists.
The Montjuïc Castle is located at 173 meters above the port and offers a scenic view of the Port and Barcelona city on Montjuïc Mountain. This old military fortress is a symbol of repression and Barcelona’s struggles during its history. It is now a peaceful place to enjoy the outstanding view over the port having a drink or a few tapas at the restaurant.
The Christopher Columbus bronze statue rises up at the far end of Las Ramblas. This monument is 60 meters tall and was built up on for the 1888 Universal Exhibition in honor to Columbus first travel to the Americas.
