BARCELONA MAGIC FOUNTAIN OF MONTJUÏC

The Barcelona Magic Fountain is located on the old site of The Four Column from Josep Puig i Cadafalch, representing the four stripes of the Catalan flag erected as a Catalanism icon and destroyed during Primo de Rivera’s dictatorship. Although thought and designed by Carles Buïgas in 1922, the Magic Fountain only had its first performance on May 1929 for the Universal Exhibition. The committee was impressed by the immensity of this colossal piece of work built in less than a year!

Totally different (and maybe less famous) from the Fountain of Trevi in Rome, the Barcelona Magic Fountain is said to be one of the most beautiful fountains of the world.

A show of music and lights

The Montjuïc Magic Fountain show offers you a real impressive exhibition of water jets with over 50 shades of colours all with a musical background. The music theme can be very different from one show to another: from Disney-like to classical music, including rock.

Practical information

The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc (Font Màgica in Catalan) is located on the Avenida Maria Cristina, below the Palau Nacional of Montjuic, right next to Plaça d’Espanya.
